Apple will bring ChatGPT to Siri for free later this year

Apple is working with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to Siri, the company announced at its WWDC 2024 keynote on Monday. OpenAI is bringing ChatGPT to Apple products running iOS 18 - no account required. Apple sẽ đưa ChatGPT vào Siri miễn phí vào cuối năm nay

ChatGPT will be available for free  in iOS 18  and macOS Sequoia later this year with no account required, and Apple says user queries will not be logged. This popular chatbot will also be integrated into Apple's system-wide writing tools. Additionally, paid ChatGPT subscribers will be able to link their accounts to access premium features from OpenAI within Apple's operating system.

As  OpenAI  and  Apple  explain, “Apple users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly.”

The long-awaited partnership comes as Apple tries to integrate AI features that compete with those of other major tech companies. Apple has been in discussions with both Google and OpenAI to incorporate their AI technology into its operating system. Finally, OpenAI reached an agreement .

“We’re excited to partner with Apple to bring ChatGPT to their users in a new way. pple shares our commitment to safety and innovation, and this partnership aligns with OpenAI’s mission to make advanced AI accessible to everyone. Together with Apple, we’re making it easier for people to benefit from what AI can offer.”, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a statement. 

An OpenAI spokesperson declined to comment further on the terms of the agreement.

Although there's been a lot of buzz about OpenAI's recently launched GPT-4o model - including the voice assistant being criticized for sounding eerily similar to actress Scarlett Johansson's voice in the movie Her - aims to showcase how OpenAI's technology can improve Siri. Today, Apple confirmed that GPT-4o will be the model that supports ChatGPT in Apple devices when iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia hit the market later this year.
