President Donald Trump has launched a new website promoting the COVID-19 lab leak theory, claiming that the virus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China. The move aims to revive a controversial narrative and directly challenge mainstream explanations of the pandemic’s origins.

The website includes a section titled “The True Origins Of Covid-19.” It rejects the widely accepted theory that the virus emerged from an animal market.

Instead, it claims that Wuhan lab researchers had COVID-like symptoms in late 2019. This timeline, it argues, places the outbreak before any connection to the market.

“The federal government demonised alternative treatments and disavowed narratives, such as the lab leak theory,” the site states.

Blaming China and building political pressure

Trump’s new platform comes amid rising U.S.–China tensions. He has already raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 145%.

Because of this, the site also serves a political purpose—supporting Trump’s broader strategy of blaming China for the pandemic.

Biological claims and WHO criticism

The site pushes further, stating that COVID-19 contains features not found in nature.

“If there were evidence of a natural origin, it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t,” the site declares.

Moreover, it criticizes the World Health Organization. It claims the WHO gave in to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party and ignored its responsibility to protect global health.

Intelligence reports back the lab leak theory

In January, the CIA reported that the virus may have come from a lab. This view matched a secret dossier shared with British officials during the early days of the pandemic.

The report, written by former MI6 head Sir Richard Dearlove, stated:
“It is now beyond reasonable doubt that Covid-19 was engineered in Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

Dismissed concerns and missed opportunities

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson reportedly urged his advisors to investigate the virus’s origins. He found it suspicious that a new virus emerged in a city known for virology research.

However, some top scientific advisors, including Patrick Vallance, dismissed the lab leak concerns. This decision frustrated officials who believed the theory deserved deeper investigation.

China strongly denies the accusations

In response, Chinese officials have rejected the claims. They say there is no credible evidence linking COVID-19 to a lab leak.

Furthermore, they accuse Trump of politicizing the pandemic and spreading misinformation. The debate continues to strain international relations as both nations blame each other for the virus’s global impact.
